Participants will learn securing the rope, safety techniques and multiple methods of ascent, as well as descending. The course is suitable for all individuals over the age of 13 and over, ranging from first-time climbers to those with some indoor experience. This historic hillside village, a historic hillside village in Andalucía, around 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the breathtaking setting for this creative getaway. Painters of all abilities – including beginners – will discover how to design and produce abstract artworks. Some time will be spent in the open air, working on structured activities en plein air. These initial charcoal drawings and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the workspace, with guests creating several interpretive scenes in acrylics to be displayed in the village. The group has exclusive access of the venue, which is built around an central patio and has a sun terrace with views over the hills. The fee includes five days of art instruction; all meals; and an excursion to the local castle and additional local sights.

This Mediterranean foodie getaway, based at a riverside villa in the inland Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Attendees will master the art of meze spreads, attend a hands-on falafel session, refine brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are visits to the local market and a nearby winery to sample Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to relax on the deck or swim in the pool. This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive three-day adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The daily schedule each day is a party-style group warmup, then three 90-minute workshops covering different urban dance forms, then an 60-minute freestyle session to show off new moves. Participants are divided into groups based on ability and experience, so it is perfect for those who are completely new to popping and locking, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. The camp doesn’t include accommodation but there are a number of places to stay within walking distance, and it is 23-35 minutes by rail into central London.

St Ives is the perfect spot for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will be taught historic sailing songs from a experienced musician, and have a go at composing original ones. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a final evening concert. The retreat is held in a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. Writer and tutor an experienced instructor conducts the regular sessions on this authors' getaway. He explores topics including story structure, character development, setting and tension, to submitting work to agents. Greg’s wife, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will co-host special sessions at the beginning and end of the retreat. The retreat is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the foot of the Lefka Ori – 10 private accommodations are set around a central garden with a pool (non-writing partners are welcome to come along). The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of programs on sustainability: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This weekend introduction will help attendees understand the basics of apiary management, explore the biology of honeybees and learn about their ecological importance. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. This course is also a chance to relax in the centre's carefully maintained woodlands, which are habitat for polecats, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and rare birds. These new weekend sailing courses are spent on dinghies and keelboats on the Blackwater estuary. They are designed for adult beginners starting out or more experienced mariners who want a skills update.
